This invention provides a dielectric ceramic composition which can solve a problem of a conventional composite oxide, consisting of a rare earth element and Si only, that, when it is sintered in a reducing atmosphere to grow crystals, rapidly causes a deterioration in properties such as high-temperature load reliability and the like. The dielectric ceramic composition comprises main phase particles composed mainly of ABO3 (a perovskite crystal in which A site comprises Ba, or Ba and at least any one of Ca and Sr and B site comprises Ti, or Ti and at least one of Zr and Hf), a rare earth element R (wherein R represents at least one of Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, and Lu), Mg, and Si, and secondary phase particles comprising a crystalline composite oxide composed mainly of R and Mg. When a part of Ti in B site has been replaced by Zr, a relationship of 0.06 ≤ Zr/(Zr + Ti + Hf) ≤ 0.40 in terms of mole is established and the contents of R, Mg, and Si in terms of mole based on ABO3 are R : 4 to 40%, Mg : 2 to 20%, and Si : 2 to 15%. |
