A clarifying material, characterized in that it is prepared by drying a raw material comprising a natural soil as a main component and firing the dried soil at 500 to 800°C so as for the soil to have a water content of 10 % or less; a method for clarifying a toxic gas, a contaminated soil or a contaminated water which comprises contacting the material to be clarified with the clarifying material; and an apparatus for practicing the method. The clarifying material is capable of clarifying a toxic gas, a contaminated soil, a contaminated water or the like with very high efficiency, and can be regenerated and reused repeatedly, and thus is markedly excellent from view points of conservation of natural environment, resource saving and also economy. |
