PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an article for use in a high-temperature environment and a method for protecting the article in such environment.
SOLUTION : The article (10) includes : a substrate (20) consisting of silicon; a bonding coat (30)which consists of silicon and is arranged on the substrate (20); and an intermediate barrier (40)arranged on the bonding coat (30), and includes at least one layer (70). And at least one layer (70) includes : the intermediate barrier (40) which consists of rare earth silicate and does not substantially contain mullite; and a top coat (50) which consists of the rare earth-silicate and is arranged on the intermediate barrier (40).
