简介 The invention relates to the application of activated ions in photonic band gap materials and luminescent ceramics. These band gap materials and luminescent ceramics play an important role as light sources in seeking high radiation or using LED in optical systems. The optical characteristic of common LED is that its radiance is relatively low and cannot be improved by standard means. Therefore, the present invention relates to improving the radiance of electroluminescent devices by using activated ions in photonic band gap materials and luminescent ceramics. Thus, an essential feature of the present invention is the provision of activated ions in photonic band gap materials and luminescent ceramics to increase energy transfer, which can be achieved first by the use of rare earth ions and secondly by the average distance between the activated ions allowed by these structures.
