PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a new composite oxide phosphor which can achieve ruby color, and to provide a method for producing the same.
SOLUTION : The method for producing the composite oxide phosphor comprises the steps of : hydrolyzing a metal alkoxide precursor solution prepared by dissolving a solute comprising a titanium alkoxide, a barium alkoxide, a rare earth element containing at least 0.03-0.5 atom% praseodymium, and a bivalent metal element containing at least 0.1-2.0 atom% magnesium into a solvent to obtain a gel, drying the gel, and then burning the dried gel at a temperature of 1, 200°C or less.
