PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing a porous carbon in which macro-, meso- and micro-pores are formed therein without needing expensive rare earth metal compounds and complicated production process while suppressing the occurrence of waste liquid or materials during the process, and to provide the porous carbon.
SOLUTION : The production method for the porous carbon comprises adding an alkali metal hydroxide to an aromatic acid or adding an alkaline earth metal salt after dissolving the aromatic acid by adding the alkali metal hydroxide to generate an aromatic acid metal salt, heat treating the obtained metal salt in an inert gas atmosphere, and then removing the generated basic compounds by washing.
