PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a free-cutting β-type Ti alloy which improves machinability without deteriorating a superior mechanical property peculiar to a β-type Ti alloy, and inexpensively provides a cut article having superior reliability.
SOLUTION : The free-cutting β-type Ti alloy includes, by mass%, 10-24% V, 1-10% Cr, 1-6% Al, 0.01-3% rare earth element, 0.01-1% S and 56-97.98% Ti; and contains inclusions mainly consisting of sulfides of the rare earth element, of which the sizes are controlled to a range between 0.1 μm and 10 μm.
