PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an illuminating device having flatness as thin as the external size of an optical fiber and the flexibility of the shape for the optical fiber, as much as possible.
SOLUTION : The optical fiber illuminating device has a side-surface light-emitting optical fiber 3 the core of which rare-earth elements are added in and the side surface of which light in a visible light region is leaked from, when exciting light is propagated to the core, and an exciting light source 1 making the exciting light incident on the side surface light-emitting optical fiber.
