PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for treating contaminated soil, by which even a volatile chlorinated organic compound, which is hardly detoxified by a vaporizing/recovering method since the vapor pressure is low, can be efficiently detoxified.
SOLUTION : This method for treating contaminated soil comprises the steps of : digging the contaminated soil containing the volatile chlorinated organic compound such as trichloroethylene and tetrachloroethylene to prepare the soil to be treated; adding an oxidizing agent and a catalyst for promoting the reaction of the oxidizing agent for decomposing the chlorinated organic compound oxidatively to the soil to be treated; and agitating/mixing the oxidizing agent, the catalyst and the soil to be treated. Rare-earth metal-containing slag is used as the catalyst. |
