PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a low-cost sialon phosphor which is prepared by subjecting a rare earth metal to a solution treatment and enhances the luminance of a white diode which uses a blue-emitting diode as a light source. SOLUTION : This sialon phosphor is a powder comprising at least 40 wt.% α-sialon, at most 40 wt.% β-sialon, and at most 30 wt.% unreacted silicon nitride.
