PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a granulating technique by which the oxidation of raw powdery material is not developed while keeping high binder removing property.SOLUTION : This method for manufacturing raw powdery material for rare earth metal sintered magnet comprises a process for preparing slurry containing a primary alloy particles having a prescribed composition and alcohol in which polyvinyl butyral is dissolved as a dispersion medium and a process for spray-drying the slurry. Since the dispersion medium of the slurry for granulation is alcohol and the binder is polyvinyl butyral dissolved ion the alcohol, the oxygen amount is reduced in comparison with the case where water is used as the dispersion medium. Therefore, while improving the fillability into the metallic mold, the lowering of the magnetic characteristic can be restrained and further, since the polyvinyl butyral is used as the binder, the binder is easily removed. |
