PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a powder of a magnetic metal, which provides high-density magnetic storage media having adequate storage stability and magnetic properties. SOLUTION : The powder of the ferromagnetic metal has a content of an element of the group 1a in the periodic table decreased to 0.05 wt.% or less, and further has a remaining amount of an element of the group 2a in the periodic table decreased to 0.1 wt.% or less; contains aluminum in an amount of 0.1 to 30 atom% with respect to the total amount of the metallic elements, or a rare earth element (including Y) in an amount of 0.1 to 10 atom% with respect to the total amount of the metallic elements; and consists of acicular particles with a major axis diameter of 0.12 μm. |
