The phosphor can be used in light sources and displays. In particular, A may be calcium, calcium and barium or magnesium and D may be aluminium or aluminium and lanthanum. A phosphor blend comprises the phosphor and a red light-emitting phosphor. Methods for making a phosphor comprises firing oxygen-containing materials comprising europium, at least two alkaline earth metals and at least a Group-13 metal in a reducing atmosphere at about 1000 {C to 1400 {C. |
