PURPOSE : To obtain raw material powder capable of providing good moldability and high density by making larger the mean grading of Fe powder as a principal body of starting raw materials in Ca reduction and diffusion method than the conventional mean grading of Fe powder and also adopting hydrogen treatment at the same time. CONSTITUTION : In this manufacturing method for raw material powder, at least one kind of rare earth oxide powder having the mean grading of 1 to 10mum, at least one kind of B powder an/or B alloy powder having the mean grading of 1 to 150mum, and Fe powder having the mean grading of 200 to 400mum are blended and mixed in such a manner that the magnet composition will have the principal components of R (R : at least one kind of rare earth elements including Y) 12 to 20at%, B 4 to 20at% and Fe 65 to 81at%, thereafter, magnet powder is obtained by Ca reduction and diffusion method, then this powder is treated by hydrogen, and then the power obtained will have the principal body of single particles having a particular crystal orientation with 200 to 400mum of particle size having R2Fe14B phase as a principal phase as well as the remaining powder portion consisting of single particles agglomerated having a particular crystal orientation with the particle size of 250 to 500mum. |
