PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a flat light source unit and a backlight for liquid crystal display device with excellent reliability capable of preventing an effect of heat generated at the flat light source unit on an optical sheet even at the use under an atmosphere of high temperature.
SOLUTION : The optical sheet 4 is arranged on a light-emitting face 21 of the flat fluorescent lamp (flat light source) 2 composed of the flat light-emitting face 21 and a discharging space 22 generating light by discharge of rare gas to be emitted from the light-emitting face 21. Further, a heat dispersion plate (heat conduction restraining member) 3 is interposed between the optical sheet 4 and the light-emitting face 21, and the heat generated at the flat fluorescent lamp 2 is restrained from being conducted to an optical sheet 4 side by the diffusion plate 3.
