PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a substance satisfying characteristics of heat resistance, air-tight performance, low melting characteristic, coloring property and fluorescent color generation by other than the glass, since there is no glass state substance satisfying the above characteristics.
SOLUTION : This method for producing an organic/inorganic hybrid glassy substance containing ≥1 kind of a substance expressed by the formula : MO-RSiO3/2 or MO-R2SiO [wherein R is an organic functional group; and M is a divalent metal] is provided by heat-treating a compound consisting of a metal alkoxide and divalent metal M (Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba and Sn) at 40-100°C for 30 min to 10 hr, and a product is also provided. Also, the organic/inorganic hybrid glassy substance contains an oxide of Nb, Zr, Ti, etc., a transition metal compound of V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn etc., a rare earth metal compound of Ce, Pr, Nd, Pm, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho Er, Tm, etc., and an organic pigment.
