PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To greatly simplify the manufacturing process of a rare earth magnet and simultaneously recover the surface processing degraded layer.
SOLUTION : After a weather-resistant surface coating is formed on the surface of a magnet element, a heat treatment is carried out. The melting point of the weather-resistant surface coating is made not lower than the heat treatment temperature. The weather-resistant surface coating may be formed after a recovering coating containing a rare earth element is formed. The weather-resistant surface coating contains any one of Ni, Si, Al alloy, Au, and Pt. The magnet element is an NdFeB based rare earth sintered magnet. The thickness of the magnet element is not more than 2 mm.
