PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To precipitate boron dissolved in water as a hardly-soluble or insoluble compound by a simple means, to detoxify boron-dissolved waste water and to recover boron as a mineral resource.
SOLUTION : A hydroxide of an alkaline-earth metal is added to a boron-dissolved aqueous medium and furthermore a phosphate ion is preferably added thereto, which is then subjected to hydrothermal treatment under the temperature and pressure of a subcritical condition to produce an insoluble compound oxide of boron with the alkaline-earth metal, so that boron is separated/recovered as a precipitate from the produced insoluble compound oxide.
