PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To produce a catalyst having high activity and excellent durability in the keeping of activity under a high temperature environment.
SOLUTION : In the catalyst constituted by carrying at least one kind of catalytic metal particles on a porous carrier comprising at least one kind of a metal oxide, the porous carrier comprises an oxide containing a rare earth metal oxide, and the catalytic metal particles comprise at least one transition metal with the number of atoms of 10-50, 000 or a transition metal oxide. The catalyst is constituted by carrying cluster-like catalyst particles on a specific carrier and keeps suitable activity while changing the form of catalyst particles by an atmosphere.
