PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth bonded magnet that provides characteristics satisfying mechanical strength, moisture resistance, and outgassing without reducing formability, and is widely applied.
SOLUTION : A rare earth bonded magnet is formed by forming a mixture containing rare earth magnet powder, thermosetting resin, and lubricant, wherein an amino acid based compound of N-lauroyl-L lysine or N-lauroyl-asparagine acid is used as the lubricant, which is added 0.01 wt% to 1.0 wt% to the magnet powder. Since the amino acid based compound has high decomposition temperature, mechanical strength becomes still sufficient after curing, in addition, since there is no moisture absorption, oxidation resistance and moisture resistance also become sufficient. Furthermore, since outgassing is low, the magnet is particularly suitable for use in a hard disk drive where standards on outgassing is strict.
