PURPOSE : To obtain a highly efficient light receiving element by a constitution in which the light energy is subjected to wavelength conversion and transmitted to a photoelectric converting section. CONSTITUTION : Light in short wavelength region of photon having high energy is absorbed temporarily by rare earth ions in a wavelength conversion layer 3 to emit light on the long wavelength side. Consequently, the light emitted from the conversion layer is absorbed efficiently by the next photoelectric conversion layer 2 and a large quantity of carrier is excited thus performing photoelectric conversion. |
