PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a cerium-based abrasive which offers a good-quality polishing surface having high polishing speed, less occurrence of a flaw and small surface roughness, and a manufacturing method of a cerium-based abrasive which materializes a manufacturing with a simple process and at low cost. SOLUTION : In the manufacturing of cerium-based abrasive, mixed light rare earth which is obtained by chemically separating and removing impurities except rare earth elements, and middle-heavy rare earth and Nd from ores which contain rare earth elements, is fired at 500-1, 100 deg.C to obtain mixed oxide rare earth. After that, fluorine rare earth predominantly composed of cerium is added to be subjected to wet-grinding, drying, firing, cracking and classifying. |
