PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To obtain an amorphous inorganic fiber that has high tensile strength at room temperature up to elevated temperature and is useful as an insulating material, a reinforcing material and the like by constituting the fiber with elements as Al and the like, oxygen and rare earth metal elements and imparting a viscosity fluid processability thereto. SOLUTION : This inorganic fiber is composed of A (A is one or more kinds of elements selected from Al, Cr, Ti, Zr, Hf, Mn, Fe, Ni, Ga and Ge), oxygen and at least one kind of element selected from rare earth metal elements as Gd, La, Sm or the like and has a viscosity fluid processablility in the range of 850-1, 100 deg.C. The amorphous inorganic fiber 6 may further include in addition at least one kind of Mg, Ca, Ba and Si. These raw materials are molten, the molten liquid 4 is brought into contact with rotary rolls 5 to solidify the molten metals into strings in fine strings. |
