PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To obtain a rear earth magnet formed with a protective layer having sufficiently excellent protection characteristics on the surface and exhibiting sufficiently high corrosion resistance. SOLUTION : The rear earth magnet 100 comprises a magnet element 10 containing a rear earth element, and a protective layer 20 formed on the surface of the magnet element 10 and containing a titanium compound having a peroxo group. The rear earth magnet 100 is obtained by applying a aqueous solution of a peroxotitanic acid on the magnet element 10 and then drying it, and since stress can be relaxed at the time of drying, the protective layer 20 is protected against cracking thus ensuring sufficient corrosion resistance. |
