PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an exhaust gas purifying catalyst showing an NOx purifying capacity at a low temperature.
SOLUTION : In this exhaust gas purifying catalyst constituted by supporting a noble metal on a porous metal oxide carrier, the porous metal oxide carrier has weak basic properties. This porous metal oxide carrier is constituted by internally adding at least one kind selected from an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal and an rare earth element to alumina and preferably obtained by baking a mixture of alumina and at least one component selected from the alkali metal, the alkaline earth metal and the rare earth element at 600-1, 100°C. The content of at least one component selected from the alkali metal, the alkaline earth metal and the rare earth element is preferably 0.2-50 mass % of alumina. |
