简介 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To obtain the magnetooptical recording medium where information can be recorded fast with high density by using a magnetooptical recording device equipped with a small-sized magnetic field producing device with small power consumption. SOLUTION : The magnetooptical recording medium having a rare-earth-transition- metal-based magnetic film where information is recorded by applying an external magnetic field to an irradiation part for laser beam has as the magnetic film a magnetic film which decreases in magnetic coercive force more than an external magnetic field is obliquely applied to the film surface of the magnetic film than when vertical. As a magnetooptical recording medium of this constitution, (a) a medium which decrease in coercive force when an external magnetic field is applied from a direction perpendicular to the film surface of the magnetic film within ranges of -52 deg.<=α<0 deg. and 0 deg.<α<=+52 deg.c, (b) a medium which decreases in coercive force by 16 to 45% of that when the external magnetic field is applied from the vertical direction within ranges of -45 deg.<=α<=-15 deg. and 15 deg.<=α<=+45 deg., and (c) a medium having a part where the magnetic moment is directed in the direction perpendicular to the film surface of the magnetic layer and a part where the magnetic moment is not perpendicular to the film surface can be used.
