PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a vertical magnetic recording medium wherein a narrow track and high density recording are possible and a magnetic storage device provided with the vertical magnetic recording medium.
SOLUTION : The vertical magnetic recording medium 10 is constituted by laminating a soft magnetic backing layer 12, a magnetic flux slit layer 13, a nonmagnetic intermediate layer 14, a recording layer 15, a protective coating 16 and a lubricant layer 18 in order on a substrate 11. The magnetic flux slit layer 13 is constituted by arranging nonmagnetic minute particles 20 in a ferromagnetic mother phase 19 comprising an alloy of rare earth metal and transition metal. Since magnetic fluxes from a recording head are narrowed by the ferromagnetic mother phase 19 among the nonmagnetic minute particles 20 when recording, the spreading of the magnetic fluxes at the recording layer 15 is suppressed to be concentrated. |
