A dental ceramic adhesion promoter (I), for binding a dental base structure (preferably of titanium or titanium alloy) to an overlying dental ceramic layer, is produced from : (a) a rare earth, aluminum and/or zirconium compound (as metal compound), (b) a boron compound (preferably boron trioxide) and (c) a fluoride. Alternatively component (a) is replaced by a barium compound plus a lithium compound.
