PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a purification method for soil polluted with hexavalent chromium by which soil polluted with hexavalent chromium is easily treated (insolubilization-treated) so as to prevent re-elution of the hexavalent chromium. SOLUTION : The soil purification method is carried out by supplying a sulfate ion-containing compound to the soil polluted with hexavalent chromium and then supplying quick lime and/or cement, and in this soil purification method, the supply of the sulfate ion-containing compound and the quick lime and/or cement is carried out at a ratio of the sulfate ion conversion mole of the sulfate-containing compound and the Ca conversion mole of the quick lime and/or cement of (0.6 : 1) to (20 : 1) to convert hexavalent chromium to trivalent chromium, and at the same time, to prevent re-conversion of the trivalent chromium into hexavalent chromium.
