PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for manufacturing an R-T-B based sintered magnet, by which an R-T-B-based sintered magnet having superior magnetic properties, i.e. achieving high levels in all of B, H, and H/Hcan be stably manufactured while avoiding the use of a heavy rare earth element RH as far as possible.SOLUTION : A method for manufacturing an R-T-B-based sintered magnet comprises the steps of : preparing an R-T-B-based primary alloy including an amount of B substantially the same as that of an R-T-B-based alloy conventionally used in large, and Ga as an essential element; preparing a secondary alloy including Pr, B, Ti or Zr, and Fe as essential elements; mixing the primary alloy and the secondary alloy into an alloy mixture so that in finely pulverized alloy mixture powder, which can be obtained by finely pulverizing the alloy mixture, the content of Ti is 0.1-0.3 mass%, or the content of Zr is 0.19-0.57 mass% to 100 mass% of the finely pulverized alloy mixture powder; compacting the finely pulverized alloy mixture powder into a compact; sintering the compact; and performing a thermal treatment thereon.SELECTED DRAWING : None
