A method for preparing a rare earth permanent magnet material comprises : firstly weighing powders of three raw materials, H, M, and Q, according to the atomic percentages in the formula H100-x-yMxQy, and mixing and sieving in a nitrogen gas or other oxygen-free environment to obtain a composite powder; then mechanically processing a sintered NdFeB magnet into a specified shape and size, and performing a surface cleaning and drying process to obtain a NdFeB magnet to be treated; adhering the composite powder to a surface of the NdFeB magnet to be treated by means of electrostatic adherence in an oxygen-free environment; and then performing a vacuum thermal treatment and an annealing treatment sequentially to obtain the rare earth permanent magnet material. The method is highly efficient, and achieves a strong bond between heavy rare earth element attached materials and a base magnet, and convenient recovery of remaining powder materials. The coercivity of the prepared NdFeB magnet can be increased by 4000-14000 Oe, the remanence is only reduced by 1-2%, and the amount of heavy rare earth elements used can be reduced by 30% compared to a magnet having equivalent performance.
