PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a production method of 1, 3-dioxane-5-ones by a simple method having a short process, from a raw material that can be easily and cheaply procurable with 1, 3-dioxanes that are a mixture with 1, 3-dioxolanes as a raw material.SOLUTION : A production method of 1, 3-dioxane-5-ones with a mixture of a compound represented by the following formula (I) and a compound represented by the following formula (II) as a raw material, the method including a step (step 2) of oxidizing the mixture under an oxidative esterification condition. (In the formula(I) and (II), Rand Reach independently represent hydrogen atom or monovalent hydrocarbon group, or Rand Rare bonded with each other to represent a divalent hydrocarbon group forming a ring structure.SELECTED DRAWING : None
