PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a spherical or pseudo-spherical lithium battery positive electrode material, a battery, manufacturing method, and application. SOLUTION : A positive electrode material is represented by the following composition formula (1) : LiaNixCoyMnzMbO2 (where 1.0≤a≤1.2; 0.0≤b≤0.05; 0.30≤x≤0.90; 0.05≤y≤0.40; 0.05≤z≤0.50; x+y+z+b=1; M represents one or more kinds of Mg, Ti, Al, Zr, Y, Co, Mn, Ni, Ba and a rare earth element, the mixing rate of which is 0.001-0.5, preferably 0.002-0.03.) According to X-ray diffraction spectrum on powder of the material, the material has a single α-NaFeO2 type layered structure, the half-peak width FWHM (110) of a (110) diffraction peak near diffraction angle of 2θ=64.9° is 0.073-0.145. The material powder appears in spherical or pseudo-spherical primary particles and secondary particles small in quantity.
