PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a composition containing surface modified metal oxide for obtaining a cured article having high refraction index, high transparency, heat resistance and light resistance.SOLUTION : There is provided a composition containing a particle (1) and the particle (1) contains surface modified metal oxide (A) obtained by surface modifying metal oxide (c) with a surface modifier containing a surface modifier (a) having an unsaturated group and a surface modifier (b) represented by the following general formula (1) : RRRSi-Y-SiRX(1), where R, Rand Rare each independently a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms or a substituted or unsubstituted siloxy group, Ris a substituted or unsubstituted saturated alkyl group, X is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkoxy group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl group having 3 to 6 carbon atoms or an acetoxy group, Y is a bivalent binding group and n is an integer of 0 to 2.
