A self-protection flux-cored wire using a low carbon steel band as a jacket. Flux core ingredients in percent by weight are : 42-60% of 80-meshhigh carbon ferrochrome, 10-18% of ferrosilicon, 16-25% of ferroboron, 2-8% of rare-earth silicon, 2-8% of graphite, 1-4% of aluminum-magnesium alloy, 2-5% of manganese powder, and the balance ferrous powder, wherein the graphite, the aluminum-magnesium alloy, and the manganese powder are all added in a 60-mesh particle size and a 200-mesh particle size, and the flux core powder accounts for 49‑53% of the total weight of the wire. By adding flux core ingredients having different particle sizes, the good welding process performance is ensured. By adding self-fluxing alloy elements, such as B and Si, in a flux core, the melting point of the wire is decreased, the efficiency of overlaying is improved, the surface tension of an overlay pass is reduced, and the forming of an overlay pass is improved.
