PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a liquid crystal display that has a level difference between a display screen and an outermost surface, the level difference not easily visually recognized, and can achieve bright display.
SOLUTION : A liquid crystal display of the present invention comprises : a liquid crystal cell; a first polarizer that is arranged on the back side of the liquid crystal cell; a second polarizer that is arranged on a visible side of the liquid crystal cell; a cover sheet that is arranged on the visible side of the second polarizer and includes a transmission part at a position corresponding to a display area of the liquid crystal cell; a first optical compensation layer that is arranged on the visible side of the cover sheet to cover the transmission part and has Re(550) of 100 nm to 180 nm; and a third polarizer that is arranged on the visible side of the first optical compensation layer. The angle formed by a slow axis direction of the first optical compensation layer and an absorption axis direction of the third polarizer is 35° to 55° or 125° to 145°.
