PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a good coercive force and a good magnetization property in an R-T-B based permanent magnet having fine main phase crystal grains.
SOLUTION : An R-T-B based permanent magnet according to the present invention comprises an R-T-B based compound in main phase crystal grains. In the R-T-B based permanent magnet, R is a rare earth element, T is an iron group element including Fe, or Fe and Co as an essential element, and B is boron. The R-T-B based permanent magnet further comprises a two-particle grain boundary between two adjacent main phase crystal grains of the main phase crystal grains. The main phase crystal grains have an average particle diameter of 0.9-2.8 μm. The thickness of the two-particle grain boundary is 5-200 nm. In the R-T-B based permanent magnet, a good coercive force and a good magnetization property can be achieved.
