PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a metallic absorbable stent that can be prevented from causing fragmentation and is less likely to cause a relatively large radioactive marker to migrate from an implantation site and cause emboli in blood vessels.SOLUTION : A bioabsorbable implant comprises an elongated metallic element including 50 wt% or more of a metal selected from magnesium, iron, zinc, manganese and a combination thereof and being substantially free of rare earth metals. The elongated metal defines at least a portion of the bioabsorbable implant. The metal has a columnar microstructure including one or more columnar crystals extending substantially over the entire length of the implant and the metal defines the columnar microstructure in which the one or more columnar crystals each have an average grain length of at least 1 mm and an average grain diameter of less than 0.2 mm. The metal is defined so as to exhibit enhanced strength and physical integrity after implantation.SELECTED DRAWING : Figure 2COPYRIGHT : (C)2017, JPO&INPIT
