In the present invention, an electric contact of which the local part is not consumed for consumption by making the electric contact material for switching on or off a large current have a longer service life than the conventional electric contact material. The contact material obtained by adding iron group metals and boron oxide, such as Sr, Ca, rare earth element, etc., in Cu(Ag)-W(Mo) group electric contact materials, is manufactured. By always exposing the boron oxide particles of which the power function is low on the surfaces of the contact materials, the electric contact is consumed evenly, so that the electric contact can have a long service life while the local part is not consumed. The sintering and deterioration in dipping performance caused by the adding of the boron oxide can be made up by the iron group metals added in the W(Mo).
