PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for manufacturing a microcrystal alloy intermediate product which is used for manufacturing a rare earth sintered magnet that uses small quantities of Tb and Dy and has high heat resistance. SOLUTION : A method for manufacturing a microcrystal alloy intermediate product comprises the steps of : casting a strip cast alloy composed of a R1aTbMcAd composition (R1 represents one kind or a combination of two kinds or more selected from rare earth elements including Sc and Y, Nd and/or Pr is included as an essential element, T represents Fe, or Fe and Co, M represents a combination of two kinds or more of predetermined elements including Al and Cu as its essential element, A represents B, or B and C, a to d represent an atom% of an alloy and satisfy 12.5≤a≤18, 0.2≤c≤10, and 5≤d≤10, and b is the balance thereof); performing a HDDR processing to the strip cast alloy; and performing, thereto, a diffusion processing of 1000°C or below. Thus, obtained is an intermediate product composed of a microcrystal alloy which comprises microcrystal grains composed of Nd2Fe14B type crystal phases having an average crystal grain diameter of 0.1 to 1 μm and R1-rich grain boundary phases surrounding the microcrystal grains by an average width of 2-10 nm.
