PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a water-absorbing sheet having excellent persistence of deodorant effect and being provided with a function to deodorize not only sulfur-based malodorous substances such as hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan and the like but also malodorous substances such as lower fatty acids, body odor components and the like. SOLUTION : A water-absorbing sheet comprises a glassy deodorant 3 retained on a sheet body 2 which is provided with a water-absorbing layer, the glassy deodorant 3 comprising alkali-alkaline earth-borosilicate glass containing a copper component or alkali-alkaline earth-silicate glass containing a copper component. The water-absorbing sheet possesses a function of decomposing malodorous substances by catalytic action of the copper component retained in the glass.
