PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare metal recovery method which can recover rare metal without generating halogen gas in a reduction step. SOLUTION : A rare metal recovery method includes : a molten salt immersion step (S11) of immersing rare metal containing alloy in a molten salt; a metallic oxide addition step (S12) of adding a metallic oxide in the molten salt; and a molten salt extraction step (S13) of extracting the rare metal contained in the rare metal containing alloy as ion to the molten salt.
