[Problem] To provide a catalyst composition which can exhibit sufficient living radical polymerizability even when used in the polymerization of a nitrogenated vinyl monomer such as acrylonitrile. [Solution] The catalyst composition according to the present invention is characterized by comprising (A) a transition metal complex, (B) an organic halide and (C) a rare earth alkoxide.
