The present invention relates to a rare earth metal intermetallic compound substituted with an excessive amount of indium and a method for preparing the same. According to the present invention, it is possible to obtain a rare earth metal intermetallic compound having a system of RE_11Tt_10-xIn_x with an excessive amount of indium substitution at the site of germanium (Ge) isolated through a high-temperature solid phase reaction. The rare earth metal intermetallic compound has low electrical resistance, a high seebeck coefficient and low thermal conductivity to provide a magnetothermal material or thermoelectric material having improved overall thermoelectric properties. Therefore, it is expected that the rare earth metal intermetallic compound substituted with an excessive amount of indium according to the present invention is used as an excellent magnetothermal material or thermoelectric material for developing alternative energy technologies, including an electrothermal engine, a heat generator, a self-cooling device and thermoelectric power generation.COPYRIGHT KIPO 2017
