PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a titanium material for solid polymer fuel battery separator of which the low contact resistance is maintained and which is inexpensive by having satisfactory corrosion resistance in an environment where initial contact resistance is low and the titanium material is used as a separator within a solid polymer fuel battery. SOLUTION : The titanium material includes a base material 11 which contains a platinum group metal in 0.005 to 0.15 mass% and a rare earth element in 0.001 to 0.1 mass% and of which the remainder consists of Ti and an impurity; a titanium oxide coating 12 which is formed on a surface of the base material 11; a platinum group metal part 12A which is formed to cover at least a portion of the titanium oxide coating 12; and a carbon layer 13 which is formed on the titanium oxide coating 12 and the platinum group metal part 12A, of which carbon content is 95 mass% or more and which has conductivity. On the surface of the titanium oxide coating 12, a ratio of an area occupied by the platinum group metal part 12A is 5% or more. SELECTED DRAWING : Figure 2B COPYRIGHT : (C)2017, JPO&INPIT
