PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide superconducting wire rods capable of suppressing the binding between superconducting wire rods while suppressing the damage of the superconducting wire rods upon the generation of ordinary conduction transfer, and satisfactorily exhibiting the superconducting properties, and to provide a superconducting coil using the same. SOLUTION : A tape-shaped superconducting wire rod 11 is composed in such a manner that a superconducting layer 14 by the superconducting body of a rare earth based oxide is formed on a substrate 12 via an intermediate layer, a protective layer is formed thereon, and a stabilization layer 16 is formed thereon so as to cover the outer circumferential part of the superconducting wire rod 11. The electric resistance of the stabilization layer 16a in the edge part in the width direction of the superconducting wire rod 11 is set so as to be higher than the electric resistance of the stabilization layer 16b in the side parts other than that. As the method, a method where the thickness of the stabilization layer 16a is formed so as to be thin than the thickness of the stabilization layer 16b to increase its electric resistance, and a method where the stabilization layer 16a is formed of a material whose electric resistance is higher than that of copper, and the stabilization layer 16b is formed of copper to increase its electric resistance are given.
