PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing an R-T-B-based sintered magnet that is reduced in the used amount of heavy rare earth elements such as Dy and has a high HcJ while suppressing a decrease in Br as compared with the case in which an R-T-B-based sintered magnet is produced from a single alloy.
SOLUTION : In a method for producing an R-T-B-based sintered magnet containing R, B, Ga, Cu, Al and, if required, M in a specific range, main alloy powder and additive alloy powder are mixed, and then mixed alloy powder is subjected to molding, sintering and heat treatment. The additive alloy powder has a mass ratio of Dy and/or Tb in R, the mass ratio being made to be higher than that of the main alloy powder and to be in a specific range. The amount of B is made to be less than the amount of B of a stoichiometric ratio of an R2T14B type compound and to be in a specific range. In addition, R, T, B and Ga are made to be in a specific range.
