To provide rare earth-iron-nitrogen based magnetic powder having excellent heat resistance and magnetic properties, a method for producing the same, a compound for a bond magnet comprising rare earth-iron-nitrogen based magnetic powder and a bond magnet.SOLUTION : Rare earth-iron-nitrogen based magnetic powder comprises : rare earth elements (R); iron (Fe); and nitrogen (N) as the main components. The magnetic powder has the average particle diameter of 1.0 to 10.0 μm and comprises : rare earth elements(R) by 22.0 mass% or more to 30.0 mass% or less; and nitrogen (N) by 2.5 mass% or more to 4.0 mass% or less. The magnetic powder comprises : a core part having any crystal structure of a Th2Zn17 type, a Th2Ni17 type or a TbCu7 type; and a shell layer with a thickness of 1 nm or more to 30 nm or lower provided at the surface of the core part. The shell layer comprises : rare earth elements (R); and iron(Fe) so as to be 0.3 or more to 5.0 or less in R/Fe atomic ratio, and further comprises nitrogen (N) in an amount of more than 0 atomic% to 10 atomic% or less.SELECTED DRAWING : Figure 3
