To provide a novel oxygen excess type metal oxide excellent in oxygen adsorption and desorption speed and a manufacturing method therefor, and a method for recycling oxygen adsorption and desorption performance of the oxygen excess type metal oxide or the like.SOLUTION : There is provided oxygen excess type metal oxide having stoichiometry represented by the following general formula (1) and total of desorption amount of carbon dioxide at from room temperature to 1000°C by a temperature rising desorption method at temperature rising rate of 40°C/min of less than 450 μmol/g.
