PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a magnetic viscoelastic body capable of large deformation and having the properties of a permanent magnet, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION : In a magnetic viscoelastic body, magnetic particulates containing rare earth as a main component and having an average grain size of 100 μm or less are dispersed into silicone gel. The magnetic viscoelastic body is produced by a production method including : a dispersion step S1 for dispersing magnetic particulates having an average grain size of 100 μm or less into silicone gel, for example; a molding step S2 for molding an object obtained by the dispersion step S1 while heating; and a magnetization step S3 for applying a magnetic field of 1.5T or more to an object obtained by the molding step S2.
